The Brazilian division of the RAM brand, have hit an exciting milestone. With the sales numbers in from the month of August, the truck manufacturer has sold more than 10,245 pickups since it launched in the country in 2005 according to data from Fenabrave. Not bad in a market where the average income is under $35,000 (USD) a year and the truck market is dominated by compact pickups like the all-new 2021 Fiat Strada.
With the Ram 2500 Laramie being the brand’s only vehicle available in Brazil, it comes a pretty loaded truck with few options. Only available in a Crew Cab configuration with a standard-output 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel, allows the Ram 2500 Laramie to be more of a luxury-oriented workhorse for the agricultural companies around the area. This year, RAM Brazil announced it would be bringing the Ram 2500 Laramie Night Edition to the marketplace to offer another choice for those who are looking for more of a sporty look for their Heavy Duty.
From January to September 1st, RAM Brazil has sold 947 units of the 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4. That is 45.3% higher than the whole year of 2019 combined. Pretty exciting news considering there has been an ongoing global pandemic that has just down most of the world for several months.
“Our estimate is at least 1,500 plates, surpassing our best result, which was 1,343 sales in 2012”, says Breno Kamei, Director of RAM Brand for Latin America. In addition to the year, Kamei mentioned, when the RAM brand was launched as its own brand separate from the Dodge brand in 2009, the two brands together still only reached sales of 1,013 in 2007 and 1,190 in 2008.
The results of the 2020 model thus far, show how well the refreshed 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie has been accepted by the people of Brazil. The Laramie offers a combination of strength, grandeur, luxury, and technology unmatched in the country’s pickup truck market. Another factor is the success of the Ram 2500 this year, is the acceleration of agribusiness from like we said, most of the customers are from.
