Towed this 600 miles yesterday, it somewhere between 10-12klbs. This is the first of many similar loads and the reason I upgraded from my tundra. Super impressed with how the truck handles it. Went over the grape vine in CA and the truck didn’t struggle at all, down hill manners with the exhaust brake definitely made the upgrade to the Cummins worth it. I didn’t have to touch the brakes just set the cruise and let the exhaust brake so it’s job.

Getting ready for the trucks maiden voyage. 2021 tradesman 2500 cc 4x4 6.4 hemi 4.10. Trailer is a 2019 Jayco 32bhds
Would like to know how the truck did (mpg, octane used, range). We leave the 2nd week in July and our 2021 2500 6.4/4.10 should hopefully have 1000 miles on it by then.

Don't have a photo of the trailer but did a short camping trip over the weekend with the 2021 Ram 2500 Big Horn CCSB 6.4L. We went about 190 miles round trip. Truck was full when I left and EMPTY when we got home. Like empty empty. This was 89 octane. Do the math.

This is pulling our 2020 Flagstaff 27BHWS which is about 8k loaded through some slight grade changes and small hills compared to what some of you are seeing terrain wise.

Hideous. Lol.

Speeds varied as we had some highway(55-70), some open 2 lane(45-55) and some towns(30-40) to traverse. It really is the mixed bag trip as far as speeds and terrain go so maybe not the best trip to judge. Tow/haul all the way so no MDS. 89 octane.

Just beware. We all need to plan our stops! I feel it's the same as when you are on the snowmobile....if you see fuel....top it off.

Thanks, sorry should have read your op to see the 89 reference. I little nervous about the 6.4 fuel economy coming out of the 7.3/10 speed.

I've gotten between 8 and 10mpg, definitely seems to get better mileage on the highway vs running around 2 lane roads. Accelerating is a killer on overall gas mileage.

That's what I was curious about, we typically are pulling on interstates, at 65 mph max.

Bought this trailer in December. Dealer stored it until spring. Ordered the new Ram in February. It just arrived in June, so we had a few trips with the 1/2 ton before it came in.
Old truck did surprisingly well for the 2 short and relatively flat local trips we did. The new 3/4 will make things a lot more comfortable im sure.

Trailer is a 2014 KZ Durango 1500 275RE
(billed as a 1/2 ton towable unit. Total weight was just under max tow of the 1/2 ton, and payload was just slightly over.)

Yeah...they're 1/2 ton towable if the rest of your family and all your gear rides in a different vehicle! LOL
I know they are trying to make them lighter and fit within limits, but it just gives the wrong impression to a lot of people.

Yes it does. That's why we ordered the new truck when we did.
