Ram has been cleaning up with awards since 2019, but interestingly, the HD model is right there with the half-ton step by step for these accolades. Interestingly because the half ton was a full redesign and the HD was a mid late cycle refresh.

It shows how much effort went in to the 4.5 Gen and how much real impact it's having. It was a good time to strike too since GM decided to go soft company wide and destroy the aesthetics of their Chevrolet brand. The masterpiece of their disastrous design language trend being the Ram HDs direct competitor.

"Diesel wars" notwithstanding, I think we hit a precipice when the segment broke 700lb/ft of torque. You can throw standard 1050tq and 10 speeds at a every Ford HD, but buyers know once you're past 700, you can pretty much pull any TT or 5er built without effort so the numbers start to look less important compared to interior features, exterior aesthetics, ride comfort/handling, and overall cost.
