Why is a 3500 more expensive than a 2500?

Other than the fact that the 3500 comes standard with limited slip and the 2500 doesn't, what makes the 3500 more expensive than the 2500? The only major difference I'm aware of is the rear suspension and I would have thought the 2500 suspension would be more expensive to build.
I'm just curious if I'm missing something like beefier axles or steering components?

My guess is because they can. 3500 = more towing capabilities = higher price.

Limited slip is $495 and a 3500 base price is $1745 above a 2500 base. At least that's what I'm seeing.

Beefier frame, different rear axle, the suspension, etc.

It's not just because they can.
They are different frames? I didnt know that. I thought it was just rear axles and suspension. The more you know.

From what I've read I'm fairly certain the frames are the same. The diffs, axles and suspensions are different. Move up to a chassis cab 4500 and up and there is a change. Even on the 3500 c&c from the cab back, I believe it's only slightly different, stronger, for payload. Straight frame.
